The West still complains about the foreign aid
They’d do better to change the terms of trade

It looks like Moscow got it wrong again

Still got Frelimo I hear them say
But ‚Exchange‘ means…
‚Recession‘ means…
It all means ‚Harder to take‘
Tanzania should be moving up a gear
Instead they’ve got to step on the brake

‚Interest‘ means…

Nur schlechte Nachrichten in Radio Africa. In Südafrika regiert immer noch das Monster Apartheid. Die Länder im Westen beklagen sich über die Entwicklungshilfe. Beim Handel mit den Industrienationen werden sie be-nachteiligt: Sie tauschen billige Rohstoffe gegen teure Fertigprodukte. Beim Krieg im Ogaden 1977/78 unterstützte Moskau zunächst die sozialistische Regierung von Somalia, lieferte aber dann Waffen an die a äthiopische Diktatur. Für Mozambique und Simbabwe gibt es Hoffnung: Dort regieren die Frelimo und Robert Mugabe. Aber Tansania mußte bereits den Fortschritt stoppen – die Ölimporte verschlangen zu-viele Devisen. „WechseIkurs“, „Rezession“, „Kredite“ „Zinsen“,- oil die Fachausdrücke bedeuten nur eines: Es wird immer schwerer. Die Unabhängigkeit wird teuer erkauft, wenn das Geld von weißen Händen kontrolliert wird.
